DESCRIPTION:Searching For Martians Mars may have been habitable before Earth and might be still--so where are the Martians? We'll discuss the history and current state of our nearby neighbor and examine the possibilities of life in its past\, present\, and future. Bob Abel is a Port Orchard resident\, aProfessor of Physics at Olympic College and a DIRAC Fellow at the UW's DIRAC (Data Intensive Research in Astrophysics and Cosmology) Institute. He has an M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Space Physics. Bob is currently working on atmospheric compensation techniques for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST)\, scheduled to begin operation in 2022.
