SUMMARY:Sidney Art Gallery - Beyond Texture - the art of Denise Cormier Mahoney
DESCRIPTION:The Sidney Art Gallery is pleased to present Beyond Texture as the April Featured Art Show. Denise Cormier Mahoney\, originally from New Brunswick\,Canada and currently sharing her passion for art at Crosspoint School in Bremerton\, finds her creative voice best expressed through exploration and experimentation\, with results generating layer upon layer of visual-to-real textures including cloth\, paper\, fibers\, texture paste\, liquid latex and acrylic skins. She chooses textures and colors that fit the intricacy of each idea\, a process that allows her paintings to begin with a concept and develop instinctively. While her work is representational\, she relies heavily on memories and impressions gathered throughout her life. An active member of the Women Painters of Washington\, Denise believes it is important to "immerse our children\, friends and neighbors into this generation's art world." The exhibition will run from April 2 - 26\, with an artists' reception on Sunday\, April 14\, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Sidney Art Gallery and Museum\, National and State Historic Site\, is located at 202 Sidney Avenue\, Port Orchard\, WA and operates Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am 4 pm\, and Sundays 1:00 pm 4:00 pm.
