SUMMARY:Sidney Art Gallery - July Featured Show
DESCRIPTION:Sidney Art Gallery July Featured Art Show - The Coast\, a New Vision: The Sand Dollar Mosaics the art of Mimi Cernyar Fox.\n\n\n\nAfter years working as an artist painting a variety of subjects\, Mimi Fox's current art work relies on images of the sea and from the sea. "I am beguiled too by the sea-shell objects and during long meditative walks on the beach I gather sand dollars that have been washed ashore from their beds and contemplate them. Then I am reminded of the natural rhythms of life\, and intrigued by how they have sustained the sea birds." Mimi Fox wants the sand dollar pieces to say something about living simply in a deeply loving and caring way in this rich and beautiful universe. The one thing we all have in common apart from our religions and our cultures is that we are all breathing the same air\, relying on Brother Sun and walking with Mother Earth. The sand dollar paintings/mosaics are a poetic vision of her environment near the sea\, it is her image of our common collective. The show will run July 2 through July 26 with the artists' reception held on Sunday July 7\, 2013 from 1 pm to 4 pm. Sidney Art Gallery and Museum\, National and State Historic Site\, is located at 202 Sidney Avenue\, Port Orchard\, WA and operates Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am 4 pm\, and Sundays 1:00 pm 4:00 pm.
