Join us on October 9th for our monthly Chamber luncheon! Our guest speaker is Port Orchard local Karolyn Grimes, better known as Zuzu, from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life!"
Karolyn Grimes is probably best known for her famous line, “Every Time a Bell Rings, an Angel Gets His Wings”.
Once upon a time in a magical place called Bedford Falls, ZuZu Bailey and her petals won the hearts of millions in the classic film, It’s a Wonderful Life. Karolyn Grimes and ZuZu are one and the same.
At the tender age of four years old Karolyn started memorizing lines and appearing in the world of the cinema. She has appeared in 16 movies including The Bishop’s Wife, Rio Grande, Blue Skies, Hans Christian Anderson, and has worked with film legends such as John Wayne, Cary Grant, Bing Crosby, Loretta Young, Fred Mac Murray, Betty Grable, and Jimmy Stewart. She had already worked in four films when the part of ZuZu came along. It was just another small part, but one that was to make an indelible imprint on the consciousness of Americans for all time.
Karolyn has become the unofficial Ambassador for It’s a Wonderful Life, not only nationally, but is now appearing internationally in many countries that have discovered the magic.
At present, Karolyn travels the world speaking at film screenings, benefits, corporations, conventions, and churches. Karolyn has a charming personality and the ability to make people laugh and feel good about themselves. Her stories and experiences about working as a child with movie legends have entertained many.
Through sharing the stories of her own personal struggles with much adversity in her own life, she is able to provide inspiration. She is a talented and published writer.
It’s a Wonderful Life has a positive impact on many lives. Karolyn is able to use the film’s message of hope in her appearances. She has worked with Habitat for Humanity, Cancer Research, Hospice, Parkinson Disease, March of Dimes and many other organizations that touch people’s lives.
