Description
Ride Around Puget Sound, Aug. 25-26: Tacoma, WA
RAPSody is an event by bicyclists, for bicyclists, with everything you’d expect from a great ride, plus the unexpected. A scenic 170-mile route that includes 30 miles of peaceful paved trails; snack stops that include yogurt parfaits, calzones and homemade cookies; luggage transport, overnight accommodations and parking all included; free ice cream and live music at the finish.
The ride starts and ends in Tacoma and uses Shelton as its overnight stop. Root beer floats and meals sold at Shelton High School support the Shelton youth center (www.sock.org). Shelton is also home to some high-quality restaurants.
RAPSody is organized by a unique partnership of five local bike clubs. All event proceeds support the Bicycle Alliance of Washington, a non-profit focused on statewide bike advocacy and education. Cost: $85 early registration; $95 after July 15.
