Sidney Art Gallery - September Featured Show

Description

The Sidney Gallery's September show features photographer Beverly Hanson who will take you around the world with her exhibit “Eclectic Journeys.”  Despite St. Augustine’s admonition that “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page,”  Beverly’s exhibit will allow you to journey worldwide vicariously without the expense or inconvenience of traveling.  You can sightsee from Bali to Norway and India to Russia and back to our own Washington State with just a sweep of your eyes.  Beverly’s style varies from realistic to a painterly effect when she uses her digital paintbrush. For example, at the exhibit you will see "Pyramids in the Sea" (Seal Rocks - Oregon) looking more painterly whereas "Laundry City" (Mumbai) is more realistic.  In the past few years, Beverly has accumulated numerous awards including “Best of Show” at the Peninsula Art League and second in photography at the annual Collective Visions Gallery statewide exhibit.  Her work has appeared at the Tacoma Art Museum and in Shutterbug magazine.  She currently displays her works at Sidney Art Gallery and Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton.  The range of her works varies from nature to portraits to humorous renditions.  One of her specialties is to imprint on different media such as canvas, fine art paper, metallic paper, chiffon, aluminum, acrylic, and silk. For example, "Rice Fields of Bali" works well on canvas while "Steaming Golden River" (Yellowstone) seems more fitting to be on aluminum.  Except for aluminum and acrylic Beverly does all her own printing. Beverly continues to pursue her quest for the elusive “perfect picture” wherever that might be, in the many places in the world she has visited as well as right in her own backyard.
